Nick Cave Sojourn Branding and Environment
Art Direction ∙Branding ∙ Environmental & Exhibition Design ∙ Print ∙ Signage
The branding for Nick Cave's exhibition, "Sojourn," at the Denver Art Museum comprised several elements, all stemming from a digital interpretation of Nick's analog production process. To mirror this analog approach, a title wall was crafted, adorned with kaleidoscopic wallpaper, where the letterforms of the show title pierced through, offering viewers a sneak peek into the gallery. The logotype was also intricately die-cut into the cover of the exhibition catalog.
Following the immersive exhibition, "Second Skin," an interactive installation, provided viewers with a hands-on experience of Nick's artistic world. The room incorporated various elements from Cave's work, including kaleidoscopic wallpaper and pixelated FLOR-covering. The floor-to-ceiling felt wall, inspired by analog grade school activities, featured silhouettes of soundsuits that could be adorned with vibrant felt cutouts.

The inspiration for the wall pattern comes from the first piece you see as you enter the exhibition.

Letters are cut into the wall to give you a glimpse into the show.

The die-cut letters are carried through into the exhibition catalog.

Second Skin, the immersive experience following the gallery show uses analog materials.

Viewers can create their own sound suits from felt cutouts.
