In 2015, a transformative wave swept through the Chicago creative community, symbolizing a significant year of change. As a multitude of designers sought new horizons on the coasts, a fresh generation of creatives emerged, firmly planting roots and embracing the unique offerings of the city. This dynamic shift served as the catalyst for The STA Archive 15, a pivotal moment as it coincided with the conclusion of this longstanding annual event under the Archive name.

The creative approach to the STA Archive 15 was both symbolic and innovative. Employing a scanner, foundational typographic shapes (round, straight, diagonal) underwent distortion, visually encapsulating the evolving landscape of the creative community. This distortion added a fourth dimension of time, turning it into a compelling visual element that captured the essence of that particular year. The result was a distinctive snapshot, encapsulating a specific moment—a defining year, in a distinct city, within a unique creative community.

Collaborating with Rod Hunting, a comprehensive communications system was crafted for this event. This system encompassed a website, poster, postcards, social media assets, entry forms, and a catalog featuring the carefully chosen works. Together, these elements seamlessly conveyed the transformative spirit of 2015 within the Chicago creative sphere, leaving an indelible mark on the annual event.
