Gaijin Website

Art Direction ∙Web

Gaijin, led by Chef Paul Virant, marks Chicago's first okonomiyaki eatery, presenting both the Hiroshima and Osaka variations of this flavorful Japanese pancake. Identifying as a gaijin, or "outsider" in Japanese, Virant humorously adopts this viewpoint while revering authentic methods and practices. He stays true to his renowned ardor for pickling and preserving, paying homage to traditional preparations with playful creativity.

Collaborating with both the Wink Design Atelier and Gaijin teams, I contributed to crafting a website that encapsulates the essence of the brand. The design reflects the distinctive elements and interior of the restaurant, while also highlighting the exquisite photography showcasing Paul Virant's delectable culinary creations.
